Business Information
Prairie Owl Beads is a small Métis beadwork business owned and operated by the extremely talented Desrochers sisters: Julie, Danielle, Gabrielle and Roxane. The four Desrochers sisters are proud students, teachers and Franco-Manitobaines.
Whether small or big, every project the Desrochers sisters work on and every class they teach, to experienced beaders or beginners, comes with new teachings, new tricks and more history. The four sisters are thankful for the skills and all of the mentors they have had along their journeys. As proud Métis women, artists and teachers, they believe in the importance of sharing the art of beadwork so that it can continue to represent the creativity, strength, and resilience of the Métis Nation.
As a Métis business, Prairie Owl Beads acknowledges and respects that they operate on ancestral lands that are shared between peoples. Prairie Owl Beads create and distribute their beadwork on the traditional lands of the Annishinabe & Cree, on Treaty One Territory and on the Homeland of the Red River Métis.
